Glory Collision 7
Verhoeven re-affirmed his position atop the throne of kickboxing earlier this year when he defeated three top ten heavyweights in one night to win the GLORY Heavyweight Grand Prix, the toughest competition in combat sports.
The 35-year-old is undefeated in GLORY for almost a decade, winning an incredible nineteen straight fights in the world’s largest kickboxing promotion, and holds a record eleven title defences.
Now he will put his world title on the line once more the December and his opponent will be decided at GLORY 95 on September 21 when the number one ranked Levi Rigters (18-2, 8 KO) takes on the wild & unpredictable fan favourite Bahram Rajabzadeh (69-3, 61 KO) in a five round title eliminator.
Rigters, after two gruelling wars, met Verhoeven in the final of the GLORY Grand Prix in March where he almost stopped the champ with a spinning backfist and has been after a rematch ever since.
Meanwhile, Rajabzadeh has had a breakout year in GLORY with countless highlight reel moments but has yet to face Verhoeven, a fight kickboxing & combat sports fans the world over say is a dream fight.
“Every fight is a test and I’m here to prove why I’m still King,” said Rico Verhoeven. “Levi knocked me down last time, but I got the win. He’s dangerous, but as long as I’m on top, the belt stays with me. Levi has potential, maybe even a future champion, but not while I’m in charge. Bahram talks big and had his moments in the tournament, but talk is cheap. If he beats Levi, he might prove the hype is real. September 21 sets the stage, but December 7 at the GelreDome is where it all gets settled. COLLISION 7 will be unforgettable!”
